More honors for Southwestern Company, as we were recognized at the Public Relations Society of America – Nashville Chapter’s 23^rd Annual Parthenon Awards in several categories.

 

The Parthenon Awards can be compared to the Academy Awards of the Middle Tennessee PR industry.  It’s a who’s who of agencies, nonprofits, corporations and solo practitioners, all vying for bragging rights in over 30 categories. 

 

Southwestern cleaned house with the top award in the following two categories:

1. New Media – Websites
2. New Media – Blogs

 

An Award of Merit was also collected in the category, Writing – Feature Writing for an article I wrote entitled “Your PR Radar: Blips & Tips”.  It ran in the June 2008 issue of Direct Selling News.

 

This year there were 159 entries.  A total of 40 top Parthenon Awards were doled out and 46 Award of Merits. 

 

I was honored to serve as the Chair of the event.  The awards banquet was held at Sambuca Restaurant and there were 105 PR practitioners who attended the event.

 

This is the second time I have chaired the event, but I was not alone, as members of our company stepped to the plate!  Tabitha Taylor designed the Programs and Award of Merit Certificates, Jeff Gullet and Bill Maul printed them and Betsy Rowland helped secure a few Southwestern items for a silent auction.  The silent auction raised over $3,300 for the PRSA’s Young Professional’s Scholarship Award.  I might add also Tabitha, Lee McCroskey and Geoff Kidney also helped sort all of the awards. 

 

A huge thanks to the IS team who also made this possible: Ed Solima, Ryan Tabor, Jeff Young, Derek Preston, ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­John Palmer, and Leonard Lewis.

 

Those primarily responsible for maintaining the blogs are Becky Sudman, Geoff Kidney, Lee McCroskey and myself.

 

Our partner/vendor in the project was Nashville interactive agency and web design firm Centre{source}. Special thanks to Nicholas Holland, Aaron Briggs, Sunny Patel and the rest of the gang who “enlightened” us in the realm of social media and optimization!
