The Southwestern Company Corporate Blog
This past weekend, the Southwestern Company held its annual Great Recruiters Seminar at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Nashville TN. From all accounts it was the best one in recent memory! We had just over 600 students from all over the globe attend the 3 day seminar.
The guest speakers were very successful and well attended. These included SW alum Pat Roach, co-founder of Success Starts Now Rory Vaden, handwriting analysis expert and author Michelle Dresbold, as well as another fantastic SW alum Rob Lilwall who spent three years riding his bicycle from Siberia to London.
The weekend culminated in the Freddies award banquet at the world famous Wildhorse Saloon on Saturday night. This year included three live bands throughout the evening as well as much appreciation and excitement.
So, if you attended the event let us know what you think. Who was your favorite speaker? How did we do with the Freddies? Let us know, and many thanks to all that attended!

Hi Whitney!
Facebook removes it pretty fast because of the rights to the music. I guess we have to make do with Vimeo/Youtube. Good question!

Ghe US GRS was a great experience for me! I work with Robin Mukherjee in the Highlanders, and we do our own seminar held in Europe.
That was the 1st time I attended the US GRS and it was totally useful! I loved all the part, some favourite from Rory and Dustin, Rob Lilwall spoke to our seminar as well and it awesome to hear him again and the book is a really good one too!
I loved meeting everyone else, because it helps with setting a competition and getting ideas on how to work on your goals, etc. and not only taht but just making some new friends! That`s always exciting!
The Freddies – that was a lot of fun too, well organized and well-presented!
A massive dance not to forget ..
Long story short, I loved it.
Coming next year as well!

GRS was a great experience for me as well! I had a blast seeing everyone again. Hearing all the motivational speakers all weekend, being in an atmosphere with highly motivated college kids, and gaining recruiting skills as well as life skills was irreplaceable. I especially loved learning about the four different personalities people can have by Lee McCrowsky, he is hilarious! I can not wait to recruit on campus, as well as to begin my second summer with Southwestern. It truly was an amazing experience, and I am proud to say that I am a book chick!

This year was amazing! For my 4th GRS, it was the best, so far! Thanks to all that were involved. All of the speakers were absolutely amazing and very encouraging. I love all the videos and photos, they were great!
I wanted to make a suggestion or comment … For the video contest, I know Lee said that there were some inappropriate one’s (and obviously y’all didn’t/couldn’t show them). But for the one’s that were in the running against the winner … Do you think y’all could show those, too? Or snippets? Just to see what the winner was up against. Or maybe show the top 3 and ask the audience of the Freddie’s for them to applaud their favorite? Just some thoughts!
Swordfish, this blog ROCKS!!!

Hi Jenny!
Thanks for the kind words (and the comment)! Good suggestion about the video contest. We were struggling right up to the Freddies as to how we wanted to show the video submissions. We decided (mainly because of time constraints) to only show the winning submission. Maybe next year we should show the runners up during GRS and the winner during the Freddies? OR should we show all entries during the Freddies and just make the show longer?
If you were at the Freddies this year and are reading this, please let your opinion known! We would love to hear your input.

[...] (USASBE) in Nashville on January 14th. Conveniently, the Southwestern Company’s 2010 Great Recruiters Seminar was being held in the same hotel at the same time! As the openeing keynote speaker, Dan [...]
This was my first GRS. I don’t know if there is a better way to spend the last week of your christmas break than down in Nashville with 200 motivated college students.
